The Catergory 'A' licence is for persons of 17years or older. This course is completed on a motorcycle of between 75cc nad 125cc. On passing the practical motorcycle test a Cat 'A' licence is granted. This will allow you to ride a motorcycle upto 125cc without 'L' plates and carry a pillion passenger.

If the test motorcycle is between 121cc and 125cc and capable of reaching a speed of 100kmh or 62mph then an catergory 'A2' will be granted. This will allow you to ride a motorcycle with any size engine but wih a maximum power output of 33bhp. Most machines can be restricted if required.

The restriction is in place for a period of 2 years, after which you can ride a full power machine and any restrictor kit fitted to your machine may be removed.
